Hy-Vee recalling cream cheese, cookies and cream mix for possible salmonella

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (WOWT) - Hy-Vee announced Monday it is issuing a voluntary recall of two varieties of its private label cream cheese spread and Cookies and Cream Mix for possible salmonella contamination.

Hy-Vee says the products are made at different suppliers around the Midwest and are all sold under the Hy-Vee name. The retailer has not received any confirmations of adverse reactions from consuming these products.

The affected products were sent to Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore and Dollar Fresh Market stores, as well as the chain’s Fast and Fresh convenience stores, across eight states, including Nebraska and Iowa.

The following products are under this recall:

  • Hy-Vee Whipped Cream Cheese Spread (8 oz. with best-by date of August 7, 2024 or August 14, 2024)
  • Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread (plain, 12 oz. with best-by date of October 1, 2024)
  • Hy-Vee To Go Cookies and Cream Mix (4 oz. with best-by dates of December 1, 2024 or December 5, 2024, and lot numbers 24073, 24101, or 24117)
  • Hy-Vee Cookies and Cream Mix (16 oz. with the same best-by dates and lot numbers as above)

Hy-Vee has pulled all affected products from its shelves. Customers who purchased the items should either throw them out or return them to Hy-Vee for a full refund. Questions can be directed to Hy-Vee’s Customer Care team at (800) 772-4098.
