Armed Attack Leads to Death of Two International Red Cross Workers in Sudan

Two employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were killed, and three others were injured in an armed attack near the Jebel Marra area in Central Darfur, Sudan.

According to reports from "Darfur24," a team from the ICRC departed from Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, on Thursday. Upon reaching the area of "Liba" east of Jebel Marra, they were ambushed by gunmen who opened fire on them, unleashing a barrage of bullets.

Sources indicated that two Sudanese employees died from gunshot wounds, while three others sustained various injuries. The attackers subsequently fled the scene.

The team consisted of nine members, including foreign nationals, who were on an official mission to the region east of Jebel Marra.
